Art workshops can be a wonderful way for people to connect, express themselves and to unwind. It can also be used as a therapeutic tool for seniors, people with disabilities or various support groups. I am passionate about being a watercolour artist, but one of my greatest joys is helping others through art.

I have attended a number of art therapy courses and conferences in Ottawa and Montreal over the years, which have been essential in the development of my workshops. Over the years, I have run an art program for the Ottawa Aphasia Centre, a support group for people who have had strokes. I currently lead the Smiling Siblings Watercolour Workshop, which is an Ottawa support group for brothers and sisters of children living with cancer. As well, once a week I paint with abused women in a local shelter.

My art workshops give participants the opportunity to connect with others going through similar experiences. As an outgoing, compassionate person, it is my job to make each person feel special and proud. A typical class would revolve around a still life such as fresh flowers, pumpkins, branches or a particular theme such as Valentine’s Day. I offer step-by-step instruction, which ensures that everyone is successful. I love to do what I do and at the end of each workshop I am gratified by the positive feedback. I love to hear that I’ve made someone’s day and to see them leave with a spark in their eye and a finished painting.

Flying Colours philosophy is to create and connect with people with a genuine compassion for seeing everyone succeed.
